Class - Field Trip 1

Today we visited Sapporo Beer Chiba Brewery.

今日　私たち　は　サッポロビール　ちば　こうじょう　に　行きました。

We took a free shuttle bus from "Tsudanuma Station" in JR Soubu-line.
JRそうぶせん　「つだぬま　えき」　から　むりょう　シャトル　バス　で　行きました。

Arrived at Sapporo Beer Chiba Brewery!

サッポロビール　ちば　こうじょう　に　つきました!

Here, we learned the process of brewering beer.
ここで　私たち　は　ビール　を　つくる　かてい　を　べんきょう　しました。

After the brewery tour for about 40 min., it's time for tasting.
40ぷん　ぐらい　の　こうじょう　けんがく　の　あと　は　しいん　の　時間　です。

You can tast 2 glasses of draft beer or soft drink.
なまビール　や　ソフトドリンク　を　一人　二はい　まで　のむこと　が　できます。

Item - Winter 2

It continues cold.
さむい　日　が　つづいて　います　ね。

Let me introduce you to a winter item again.
きょう　も　ふゆ　の　アイテム　を　しょうかい　しましょう。

We use this in order to warm futon (Japanese-style bedding) when sleeping.
これ　は　ねる　とき　に　ふとん　を　あたためる　ために　つかう　アイテム　です。

This is called "Yutanpo", called "Hot Water Bottle" in English.
これ　は　"ゆたんぽ"　と　いいます。えいご　で　"Hot Water Bottle"です。

We pour hot water in this and put inside futon.
この中　に　おゆ　を　そそいで、ふとん　の　中　に　いれます。

Then, it warms futon.
そうすると、ふとん　が　あたたかく　なります。

よこ　から　見ると・・・

Item - Winter 1

Recently it's very cold.
さいきん　とても　さむい　ですね。

I'll introduce items which is useful when it's cold.
さむい　とき　に　やくだつ　アイテム　を　しょうかい　しましょう。

First of all, have you ever seen this?
まず、これ　を　みたことが　ありますか。

This is a table with futon (a thick quilt).
ふとん　が　ついた　テーブル　です。

This is called "Kotatsu".
これ　は　"こたつ"　と　いいます。

The point of "Kotatsu" is not only futon.
"こたつ"　の　ポイント　は　ふとん　だけでは　ありません。

An electric heater is attached beneath the table.
テーブル　の　うら　に　でんきヒーター　が　ついています。

It's warm!
あたたかい！

Animal - Dog 1

Today it was cold.
きょう　さむかった　です　ね。

Since it was very cold...
とても　さむかった　ので・・・

I made my dog wear a cloth.
いぬ　に　ふく　を　きせました。

In Japan, you often see dogs wearing clothes.
日本　では　ふく　を　きた　いぬ　を　よく　見ます。

Event - Coming of Age Day

Today didn't you see many young people in beautiful kimono (long-sleeved kimono)?
きょう、きれいな　きもの（ふりそで）　を　きた　わかい　ひとたち　を　たくさん　みませんでしたか？

On the second Monday of January, it is "Seijin no Hi" (Coming of Age Day in Enlish).
1がつ　の　だい2げつようび　は　「せいじん　の　ひ」　です。

"Seijin no Hi" is a day to congratulate young people who have reached the age of 20.
「せいじん　の　ひ」　は　はたち　の　わかい　人　を　おいわい　を　する　ため　の　ひ　です。
*20 years old ＝　はたち

In Japan, people can drink alcohol, smoke and vote in election after the age of 20.
日本　では　はたち　から　おさけ　を　のむ　こと、たばこ　を　すう　こと、そして　せんきょ　で　とうひょうする　こと　が　できます。　

It means they are already adults, not children.
もう　こども　では　なく、おとな　という　こと　です　ね。

－She's one year and three months old.

－１さい　３かげつ　です。

 *"さい" is a counter for age.

But this is attached only with year, not with month.

Next, we'll ask the mother of the right baby.

つぎ　は　みぎ　の　あかちゃん　の　おかあさん　です。

What is his name?

おなまえ　は？

－His name is Yuuto.

－ゆうと　です。

How old is he?

おいくつ　です　か？

－He is eight months old.

－８かげつ　です。

Mao-chan is one year and 3 months old and 10 KG, and Yuuto-kun is 8 months old and 9 KG.

まおちゃん　は　１さい３かげつ　で　１０キロ、ゆうとくん　は　８かげつ　で　９キロ　です。

They are so small!

とても　ちいさい　ですね！

Event - New Year 2

Yesterday, we introdued Shimekazari.
きのう、みなさん　に　しめかざり　を　しょうかい　しました。

Have you seen any other decorations in your town?
まち　の　中　で　なに　か　ほか　の　かざり　も　見ました　か。

It can be found in front of department store, company buildings, houses and so on...
デパート、会社　の　ビル　や　いえ　の　まえ　に　あるんです　が・・・。

Yes, this is the one!
そう、これです！

This is called "Kadomatsu".
これ　は　「かどまつ」　と　いいます。

Kagomatsu consists of bamboo and pine brances.
かどまつ　は　たけ　と　まつ　で　できています。

This is decorated to welcome God.
これ　は　かみさま　を　おむかえする　ため　に　かざります。

Event - NEW YEAR 1

Have you noticed something which was not there has been hung in your town?
いつも　ない　もの　が　まち　に　あるの　に　き　が　つきました　か。

It's like a straw rope with an orange....
みかん　の　ついた　わら　の　ロープ　の　ような　もの　ですが・・・。

Yes, this is the one!
そう、これ　です！

This is called 'Shimekazari' in Japanese.　
これ　は　日本語で　「しめかざり」　と　いいます。

Shimekazari is hung on the front door of the house.
しめかざり　は　うち　の　げんかん　に　つけます。

This is to prevent evil spirits from entering the house.
これ　は　わるい　かみさま　や　わるい　もの　が　うち　の　中　に　入らない　ように　する　ため　です。

On the front door of my house, Shimekazari is also hung.
わたし　の　うち　の　げんかん　にも、　しめかざり　が　つけてあります。
