This flower is famous in India too.

This flower is called "Hasu" in Japanese and "Lotus" in English.

この　花　は　日本語　で　「はす」　です。英語　で　「Lotus」　です　ね。

In this season, please go to Shinobazu Pond within Ueno park early in the morning.

この　じき、あさ　早く　うえのこうえん　の　中　の　しのばずいけ　に　行ってください。 

You can see very beautiful lotus there.

The name of this flower is "Ajisai"
この　花　の　名前　は　「あじさい」　です。

Ajisai blossom only during this season, so it is a symbol of rainy season.

It blossoms in various colors, and it is pleasing to those who view.

JLPT (June, 2011) Application Has Started

Application for JLPT held in June has started.
７月　の　日本語能力試験　の　もうしこみ　が　３月２４日　に　はじまりました。

It will be closed on 28th Apr.
もうしこみ　は　４月２８日　まで　です。

If you want to take the JLPT, please apply by 28th Apr.
７月　に　日本語能力試験　を　うけたい　人　は　４月２８日　までに　もうしこんでください。

Presently where are you?

みなさん　は　いま　どこ　に　います　か？

The exam taken in Japan can be applied only in Japan.

日本　での　じゅけん　は　日本　で　しか　もうしこめません。

Please be careful that you can't apply from abroad.

外国　から　は　もうしこめない　ので　き　を　つけてください。

[In Case of Not Being in Japan　日本　に　いない　ばあい]

Please ask your friend in Japan to proceed the application on behalf of you.
日本　に　いる　ともだち　に　かわりに　もうしこみ　を　してくれる　ように　たのんでください。

You should send your  ID photo (4 cm long * 3 cm wide) to your friend, then he can apply.
ともだち　に　しょうめいしゃしん（たて４ｃｍ×よこ３ｃｍ）　を　いちまい　おくってください。
そうすれば、ともだち　は　もうしこめます。

When you are back to Japan, you should give him back the application cost.
日本　に　かえってきたら、ともだち　に　もうしこみだい　を　かえしてください。

Event - Hinamatsuri

Today it is Hinamatsuri (The Japanese Doll Festival).
今日　は　ひなまつり　です。

This is a festival for girls.
これ　は　女の子　の　ため　の　おまつり　です。

Families with girls display Hina-Ningyo.
女の子　が　いる　かぞく　は　ひなにんぎょう　を　かざります。

I don't have Hina-Ningyo at my place, so I made with Origami.
わたし　の　うち　には　ひなにんぎょう　が　ない　ので、おりがみ　で　作りました。

Flower - Winter 1

It was a warm day.
きのう　は　あたたかい　日　でした　ね。

I went to Shinjuku Gyoen in Shinjuku.
わたし　は　しんじゅく　に　ある　しんじゅくぎょえん　へ　行きました。

Ume (Japanese plum) is blooming beautifully there now.
いま　しんじゅくぎょえん　で　うめ　が　きれいに　さいて　います。

Ume is the one in Umeshu.
「うめ」　は　うめしゅ　の　「うめ」　です　よ。

Do you like Umeshu?
うめしゅ、すき　です　か？


It is very beautiful color.
とても　きれいな　いろ　ですね。

I like the deep pink Ume.
わたし　は　こい　ピンク　の　うめ　が　すき　です。



 
There are also Kan-zakura and Kawazu-zakura which blooms in winter.
ふゆ　に　さく　かんざくら　や　かわづざくら　も　見ること　が　できました。

Winter will be over soon.
もう　すぐ　ふゆ　が　おわります。

Event - Valentine's Day

Today it is Valentine's Day!
今日　は　バレンタイン　です！

Men, did you receive presents from women?
男の人　は　女の人　に　プレゼント　を　もらいました　か？

Women, did you give presents to your husband or boyfriend?
女の人　は　だんなさん　や　こいびと　に　プレゼント　を　あげました　か？

In Japan, women give presents (mainly chocolate) to men.
日本　では　女の人　が　男の人　に　プレゼント（おもに　チョコ）　を　あげます。

Only women give.
女の人　だけ　が　あげます。

What? It is unfair?
え？ふこうへい　です　か？　

No problem, please wait for one month.
だいじょうぶ、いっかげつ　まってください。

14th Feb. is the day women give presents to men.
2月14日　は　女の人　が　男の人　に　プレゼント　を　あげる　日です。

And 14th Mar. is the day men return gifts to women!
そして、3月14日　は　男の人　が　女の人　に　おかえし　を　する　日です！

Let's wait for 14th Mar.

Event - Sapporo Snow Festival

Hokkaido is the coldest place in Japan.
日本　で　いちばん　さむい　ところ　は　ほっかいどう　です。

I think this week many people go or had been there.
こんしゅう　その　ほっかいどう　に　行く、また　行った　人　が　おおい　と　おもいます。

Do you know the reason?
どうして　か　わかります　か。　

Are they going for skiing? For eating fish?
みんな、スキー　を　し　に　行きます　か？さかな　を　食べ　に　行きます　か？

No, they are going to see....
いいえ、みんな　は　見に　行くん　です・・・


Sapporo Snow Festival!
さっぽろゆきまつり を！

This year Snow Festival is held from 7th Feb to 13th Feb.
ことし　ゆきまつり　は　2月7日　から　2月13日　まで　です。

Here, more than 250 of snow statues and ice sculptures are set up.
さっぽろゆきまつり　では　250き　いじょう　の　ゆき　の　ぞう　や　こおり　の　ちょうこく　が　つくられます。

They have various size of statues, and the bigger one is with a height of 15 meter.
いろいろな　サイズ　が　ありますが、大きい　もの　は　15メートル　の　たかさ　です。

People work on these arts as the left.
ひだり　の　ように　さぎょう　して、さくひん　を　つくります。

You can see how large the scale of these arts is.
これら　の　さくひん　の　スケール　の　大きさ　が　わかりますね。


The number of the people who visit the Snow Festival is more than 2 millions.
ゆきまつり　に　行く　人　の　かず　は　まいとし　２００万人　いじょう　です。

Animal - Monkey

It is not only humans who feel cold in winter.
ふゆ、さむい　の　は　にんげん　だけ　ではありません。

Monkeys also feel cold!
さる　も　さむい！ 

Class - Field Trip 1

Today we visited Sapporo Beer Chiba Brewery.

今日　私たち　は　サッポロビール　ちば　こうじょう　に　行きました。

We took a free shuttle bus from "Tsudanuma Station" in JR Soubu-line.
JRそうぶせん　「つだぬま　えき」　から　むりょう　シャトル　バス　で　行きました。

Arrived at Sapporo Beer Chiba Brewery!

サッポロビール　ちば　こうじょう　に　つきました!

Here, we learned the process of brewering beer.
ここで　私たち　は　ビール　を　つくる　かてい　を　べんきょう　しました。

After the brewery tour for about 40 min., it's time for tasting.
40ぷん　ぐらい　の　こうじょう　けんがく　の　あと　は　しいん　の　時間　です。

You can tast 2 glasses of draft beer or soft drink.
なまビール　や　ソフトドリンク　を　一人　二はい　まで　のむこと　が　できます。

Item - Winter 2

It continues cold.
さむい　日　が　つづいて　います　ね。

Let me introduce you to a winter item again.
きょう　も　ふゆ　の　アイテム　を　しょうかい　しましょう。

We use this in order to warm futon (Japanese-style bedding) when sleeping.
これ　は　ねる　とき　に　ふとん　を　あたためる　ために　つかう　アイテム　です。

This is called "Yutanpo", called "Hot Water Bottle" in English.
これ　は　"ゆたんぽ"　と　いいます。えいご　で　"Hot Water Bottle"です。

We pour hot water in this and put inside futon.
この中　に　おゆ　を　そそいで、ふとん　の　中　に　いれます。

Then, it warms futon.
そうすると、ふとん　が　あたたかく　なります。

よこ　から　見ると・・・

Do you have this in your country?

みなさん　の　くに　にも　ありますか。

たぶん　ゴム　で　できた　もの　が　ある　と　おもいます。

Item - Winter 1

Recently it's very cold.
さいきん　とても　さむい　ですね。

I'll introduce items which is useful when it's cold.
さむい　とき　に　やくだつ　アイテム　を　しょうかい　しましょう。

First of all, have you ever seen this?
まず、これ　を　みたことが　ありますか。

This is a table with futon (a thick quilt).
ふとん　が　ついた　テーブル　です。

This is called "Kotatsu".
これ　は　"こたつ"　と　いいます。

The point of "Kotatsu" is not only futon.
"こたつ"　の　ポイント　は　ふとん　だけでは　ありません。

An electric heater is attached beneath the table.
テーブル　の　うら　に　でんきヒーター　が　ついています。

It's warm!
